The team at Cressy Door and Fireplace is thrilled to have received the 2017 Dealer of the Year Award from Northwest Door. Every day we strive to provide exceptional customer service which includes identifying and selling products from innovative and reputable manufacturers. Northwest Door is one of our favorites making this award even sweeter.

Rick Witters, Owner of Cressy Door and Fireplace says this about the award: “I have to say, I’m ecstatic about this award! Being nationally recognized as the #1 Dealer in the US is a big honor for us. Northwest Door is constantly setting the bar for garage door innovation, giving our customers quality products that not only look good, they last. Our team works hard every day to take care of our customers and support our manufacturers. This is a team award, and I am proud of everyone!”

An Interview with Brian Miller, VP Sales & Marketing, Northwest Door

Cressy: How important are dealers to your business?

Brian: Dealers are our business. We wholesale to garage door dealers who in turn sell to builders, homeowners, and business owners. We have more than 1200 dealers nationwide, primarily in the Western US and Canada. Northwest Door Dealers are supported by our factory in Puyallup, Washington and our wholesale distribution centers located in Portland, San Jose, Bakersfield, Spokane, Boise, Denver, Salt Lake City and Calgary, Alberta.

Cressy: Why do you have a dealer of year award?

Brian: We feel it is important to recognize all of our dealers for their hard work, and one Northwest Door Dealer each year for the exceptional job they have done representing our products.

Cressy: How do you choose Northwest Door’s Dealer of the Year recipient?

Brian: We choose the one that we think is most deserving of the award based on:

  • Their professionalism
  • Customer satisfaction
  • How well they market themselves and our products
  • The variety of our products they promote and sell
  • Their ongoing growth and longevity with Northwest Door

Cressy: What do dealer of the year award recipients have in common?

Brian: They all do an excellent job representing Northwest Door® and maintaining our good name.

Cressy: What’s special about Cressy Door & Fireplace?

Brian: Cressy is a great company and has been in the greater Seattle area for over 65 years.  Cressy always stands behind what they sell and put their customer’s first.  As a business owner, Rick Witters has maintained a tradition of customer satisfaction established years ago by his father Fred Witters. During Rick’s past 20, he has not only maintained the company’s reputation, he has grown the business to new heights.  Cressy’s staff is always very professional and easy to work with.  We are very proud to have Cressy as a Northwest Door Dealer and congratulate them on their achievements.

At Northwest Door, our dealers aren’t just important to our business, they are our business. We have more than 1200 dealers nationwide and while we feel it is important to recognize all of our dealers for their hard work, we recognize one Northwest Door dealer each year for the exceptional job they have done representing our products. Cressy Door and Fireplace took home the plaque this year, and after speaking with Owner Rick Witters about his business, it’s easy to see why.

Cressy operates out of two locations: a Kent facility which measures in at 25 thousand square feet, and their ten thousand square foot Shoreline location. With a team composed of 54 people between Kent and Shoreline including 33 technicians, 13 salespeople and eight office staff members, Cressy has the manpower to take on quite the workload in the greater Puget Sound area and they pride themselves on the drive and knowledge of their employees.

This powerhouse of a company has been in the greater Seattle area for over 65 years and does the majority of their work between Centralia and up to Mt. Vernon, while still taking on projects as far east as Suncadia with a smaller number of projects on the west side. Their projects are composed of about 15% fireplace, 15% pedestrian doors, 35% residential garage doors and 35% commercial. “If you choose to just get into one thing, like if guys are pros at just residential doors, that’s great and I applaud that. But I’ve been lucky enough to surround myself with people that are really good with all those product types”, said Mr. Witters.

Rick also mentioned that Cressy supports an organization called Reality Sports – A Christian based sports organization that teaches kids skills to help them excel in not just sports, but life in general. “It’s a great organization based out of the south end. That’s probably one of my favorite things right now that we’re supporting in the community.”

A common trend that Mr. Witters has noticed recently is an influx in modern style (contemporary) projects incorporating products like our Modern Classic and Modern Tech. “I think the last ten years have been the most interesting out of the 40 years I’ve been doing it. All the new products that have been coming out – it’s just interesting. I love the diversity of the industry, it’s always changing and you’re always seeing new faces all the time as well as your loyal returning customers.”

Northwest Door is very proud to be associated with and acknowledged by such a fine company as Cressy Door & Fireplace. We are both eager to see what 2018 and beyond holds for the door industry.
